A TRIBUTE TO OYSTERS

/ 06.2022 / BY MELODY SANDERSON

Oysters have been present in our history for thousands of years - they were essential to the primitive humans as a food source. Early historical evidence shows that oysters were cooked and their shells were used as knives or spoons.

Rich in nutrients such as zinc, vitamin B12, C, D, E, thiamine, iron and magnesium, oysters also carry a symbology that goes beyond a food: a ritual that nourishes our senses, enchanting us with its poetic shape and mysterious aphrodisiac myth - which, despite the lack of scientific proof, it has already been associated by our collective imaginary for thousands of years with the figure of Aphrodite - the greek Goddess of Love.

Our special affection for this food led us to our oyster provider "Aquanostra" (Ugo Castilho), settled in the rich, fertile waters where the Sado River meets The Atlantic Ocean, producing oysters of quality in harmony with nature in innovative conditions to increase nutrient concentration.

Thus, with the talent of our staff and chef's, these oysters go to the plate with great care and appreciation.
